I am Marcus Burke, an enthusiastic educator with an unwavering passion for teaching and learning. From a young age, I always knew I wanted to be a teacher. I was inspired by my own teachers and often emulated them in pretend teaching sessions with friends and family. I have always believed in the transformative power of education, and my experiences have only reinforced this conviction.
Growing up, I attended a low-performing school in an economically deprived neighbourhood in inner London. Despite the challenges, hard work and determination paid off, and I was able to achieve academic success. This journey is what drives me to teach today—to instil the same ethic of perseverance and love of learning in my students.

I offer tutoring in KS3 and GCSE English Language & Literature, A-Level English Literature, A-Level Sociology, Black Studies, and 11+ Exam Preparation. I also provide Adult Learning sessions in English, Education, and Teaching.
All lessons are delivered online using platforms such as Google Meet. This allows for a flexible and convenient learning environment for students.
You can book lessons by using the booking tool on my website. You can also schedule a free 30-minute consultation to discuss your child's needs and find the best fit for them.
- Group Sessions (Home School Academy and Weekend Academy): £15 per lesson.
- One-to-One Tuition: Prices start at £35 per session for KS3, GCSE, and 11+ subjects, and £40 per session for A-Level English Literature and A-Level Sociology. Adult Learning is £50 per lesson.
- Monthly payments are made in advance, and for five-week months, costs will vary.
Yes, I offer a 10% sibling discount for students who enroll in multiple lessons.
If your child misses a lesson, please let me know as soon as possible. I have a cancellation policy that requires at least 24 hours notice for a missed lesson to be rescheduled or refunded. For cancellations, 7 days notice is required; otherwise, monies are forfeited. However, all effort will be made to reschedule the missed lesson.
I take safeguarding very seriously. As a tutor, I am fully qualified and hold a Level 3 Safeguarding Certification and an enhanced DBS check. I adhere to strict safeguarding guidelines to ensure all students are protected during online lessons.
Yes, students will receive weekly independent tasks for homework. These tasks are designed to reinforce what has been covered during lessons and to help your child progress further in their learning.
I provide regular feedback through personalised learning plans, homework assignments, and monthly assessments. This ensures you are always informed about your child’s progress and areas for development.
I provide tutoring for students in KS3 (Years 7-9), GCSE (Years 10-11), and A-Level. Additionally, I offer adult learning sessions for those returning to education or seeking further training in English, Education, or Teaching.
Absolutely! I offer exam-focused sessions for GCSE and A-Level students, including MasterClasses during school holidays, such as Macbeth, An Inspector Calls, and Easter GCSE Exam Preparation. These sessions help students develop exam skills and boost their confidence.
Yes, I provide personalised one-to-one support for students preparing for the 11+ and 13+ exams. Lessons are tailored to meet the specific requirements of the schools your child is applying for.
I offer tailored one-to-one sessions for adult learners, covering English skills, educational theory, or preparation for teaching qualifications, including support for NQT and PGCE students.
Yes, I offer group sessions through the Home School Academy (twice weekly) and the Weekend Academy (once weekly). These are small groups with a maximum of 6 students, ensuring that each child receives personalised attention.

A consultation is 30 minutes long and provides an opportunity for us to discuss your child's learning needs, my approach, and how I can best support them. You can book a consultation directly on the website, and these can take place via Google Meet or over the telephone.
I am available for one-to-one lessons Monday to Friday, from 4:30 PM to 8:30 PM. I also offer consultation slots during specific times in the mornings, evenings, and weekends.
